Butterfly! Colourful as it is, didn’t just appear. It passed through a transformation process out of the cocoon from a worm-like shape to the orange, black, brown and white markings of its transformed body. This nature flying flower erstwhile in the chrysalis wasn’t a butterfly yet until it had passed through metamorphosis, a change, a rebirth. The caterpillar after it had broken its pupal case had to wait to emerge with it wings wrapped around its body before it takes its first flight of joy. This is a description of what transformation of the spirit is all about.
Like the caterpillar, a man who is not yet spiritually transformed cannot take his flight of life. He perpetually lives in his pupal case. His spirit struggles to find life’s truest purpose.
Transformation of the spirit is more than just metamorphosis or change. It is realigning, reordering your life to the original design of God. It’s about being what God wants you to be. It is about fulfilling destiny, living a purposeful life. Obeying your calling. Following the potter.
Man is a spirit. He lives in a body and has a mind. The real man is the spirit. It’s what really is more important. Now, for him to gain ascendancy to heavens throne or spiritual mastery, his spirit has to be transformed, changed, regenerated or re birthed.
Before Adam sinned against God. Man’s spirit was free. But when he sinned, his spirit became caged. There was no more freedom. He became like the caterpillar in its pupal case. Thus, there was a need for man to be transformed; to become the person he was meant to be. Does it mean that a man who is not transformed substandard? No! It’s just about leaving where who we are—our nature to who God wants us to be.
How Your spirit can be Transformed.
When we confess our shortcomings with our mouths and accept Jesus in our hearts to be our Lord and save our, a spiritual transformation takes place. Your old spiritual nature is exchanged for a new nature.
“Therefore if any person is [ingrafted] in Christ (the Messiah) he is a new creation (a new creature altogether); the old [previous moral and spiritual condition] has passed away. Behold, the fresh and new has come!”(2nd Cor. 5:17. The Amplified Bible )
Before a man gets transformed, his spirit is ugly but when he receives Christ, his spirit becomes beautiful like that of the butterfly.
Also, we have not yet started our real lives until our faces through transformation becomes unveiled out of our ‘pupal case’. Who unveils our faces? Jesus, through God’s word! He is the Transformer.
“And all of us, as with unveiled face, [because we] continued to behold [in the Word of God] as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are constantly being transfigured into His very own image in ever-increasing splendor and from one degree of glory to another; [for this comes] from the Lord [Who is] the Spirit”. (2nd Cor. 3:18. The Amplified Version)
You spirit don’t get transformed by religion or doing good works or being nice to people. That’s just imitation of the real deal. Spiritual transformation is different. The real deal is Jesus.
Until you constantly feed Him into your spirit daily through the word of God, you remain in your pupal case. If you feed on God’s word. You become free.
