Have you ever wondered why did Jesus left his magnificent place—heaven and came down to earth?
What was on the mind of God in letting his son Jesus to the earth? Why should he have an earthy experience, how could God do that?
Would you call it love? If it was love, how great that love is! (See John 3:16)
This was what God was doing : He was actually coming to have an earthly experience in the form of a human.
And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God. (Luke 1:35)
Jesus’s coming to the earth is the significance of Christmas. But why did he choose to come? Let’s find out!
Jesus came to the earth to die.
‘Death‘ what was on the mind of Jesus.
For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many” (Mark 10:45)
His aim was to die for the sins of the earth. He did not come for a research or vacation.
His mission was ‘Die for mankind‘ but how would that be possible?
Jesus was GOD. He couldn’t die. How would this happened?
He has to be born. How? By a human means. He could only die as a human. A human had to pay for the penalty for our sins.
Now, Jesus was 100 % God and 100% human.
The dual nature of Jesus helped him to live a life of holiness yet in a human form while he was on earth.
And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.” (John 1:14)
But why should it be Jesus, wasn’t there anyone else?
There was no blood as pure, clear and crystal as the blood of Jesus, God’s only son.
His blood was not just pure. It has a cleansing power.
… and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.”(1John 1:7b).
If his blood cleanses sins, what does it stands to achieve?
His Blood Redeems us back to God
Erstwhile Jesus came, the blood of bulls, goats and pigeons were offered as an atonement for our sins.
However, it wasn’t perfect. For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins.(Hebrews. 10:4)
He came to stand in our place. He came to die our death, take our pains and put our sicknesses upon himself.
The only way he could do this was to let his blood spill on us.
How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?” (Hebrews. 9:14).
What is so special about Jesus’s blood? This is it.
His blood restored us back to God.
I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.”( Luke 5:32)
Sin is what separates us from God. Jesus came to the earth to restore the missing link between us and God.
He severed as chief mediating officer.
And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance” (Hebrews. 9:15)
His mission was to restore that broken fellowship man lost in the garden of Eden.
Fellowship is being in the same ship with someone. Jesus came to put us back in the ship with God.
Isn’t that amazing? God desired for a restoration. The reason was his coming—Christmas.
So, what’s all about this fellowship thing? Are there benefits to his fellowship?
Fellowship with God through Jesus gives us Life.
I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” (John 10:10b)
Were we dead? No! So? This is what happened.
The moment Adam disobeyed God by eating the forbidden fruit. He lost access to eternal life—Zoe.
Man became susceptible to decay and the fallen state of the world. He became poor, sick, weak and died spiritually.
Jesus’s job was to restore the benefits of the fellowship with God. (See John 14:6)
Having Jesus is having eternal Life (Zoe). The life that never ends.
It’s worthy to note that eternal life starts here on earth and continues in Heaven.
This is the God-kind of Life. That is the original Life of God before the devil stole it.
You can only access this Life if you have receive Jesus into your heart.
He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.” (1 John 5:12)
And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand (John 10:28)
This eternal Life is abundant and has other redemptive packages.
(Healing, Divine health, wealth, riches, Joy, purpose, Peace are part of his Life) [ 2nd Peter 1:3-4]
Jesus’s Life causes us to live a life of Heaven on earth.
It’s Christmas again!
He is the reason for the season. Do you feel God is far away and out of your reach?
Does it seems like God has left you? God never left. Guess who moved? You!
Perhaps, you might have drifted or have never had a serious relationship with God.
Hear what Jesus is saying:
Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.
He is at the door of your heart knocking. He is closer than you think. Would you let him in? This is the significance of Christmas.
He came for you. Why is Jesus knocking at the door of your heart. It’s because that’s where he wants to stay.
His presence in your heart will restore the fellowship with God and bring you real life, love and peace.
Jesus wants to be Lord and King of your heart.
I encourage you to let him now so that you can enjoy the peace of mind that truly satisfies (Col 3:15)
Say this prayer :
Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, I come to you today.
I am a sinner and I understand that sin has separated you from me.
I repent of every wrong I have done. I receive Jesus now into my heart as my Lord and Savior.
Come fill me with the Holy Spirit and cause me to live for you alone. Amen.
If you have just said that prayer, congratulations!
You have now reignited a new relationship with God.
You will now have to attend a Bible-believing Church closest to you where your faith in Jesus can be strong.
Jesus loves you
